History
WaterBall
was invented by Gold Coast swim coach Terry Gulliver
in the mid 1980s initially as a fun activity for
his swimmers. It quickly grew in popularity and then
spread around Australia.
The
Game
WaterBall
is a fast new exciting game best described as a cross
between netball and basketball. Quick passing, multiple
shooting opportunities and high scores make for lots
of fun and excitement. Because it is a non contact
sport and played in water, the risk of injury is negligible.
This has appeal to both men and women, as well as boys
and girls. It can be played enjoyably by people of all
ages and standards of fitness and skill.
Matches
are played in mens, womens, mixed leagues and by junior
(8-13 years) in a socially competitive spirit (with
the accent on social rather than competitive) for the
enjoyment of all players and teams.
