4 years and over - Classes are graded into 4 LEVELS
LEVEL 1. Pupils with no swimming ability start at Level 1 where the focus is on water familiarization and learning to float and retrieve objects from the bottom of the pool. Pupils learn to kick efficiently and use this skill to propel themselves through the water. Our fun, games and gentle approach results in happy swimmers. Our shallow teaching pool helps build confidence in those critical early stages.
LEVEL 2. Pupils learn big arms and combined with the kicking movements allows swimmers to move through the water with their face down - their first real swimming strokes. Even for absolute beginners this point is usually reached after just a handful of lessons at Gullivers. Once pupils effectively master the four metres distance plus back floating and kicking on the back they automatically move up to the next level.
LEVEL 3. Pupils begin to learn the basic skills needed to accomplish the art of breathing, firstly with an over exaggerated full rolling movement while performing "breathe and bubble" routines. Basic backstroke is also taught at this level
LEVEL 4. The skill of breathing is incorporated in to an acceptable freestyle with continuous kicking action, big straight arms and efficient side roll breathing. Backstroke is refined.
After Level 4 swimmers proceed onto
Stroke Correction and Levels 5, 6 and 7
